Make Your Own Homemade Baby and Toddler Food in Reusable Pouches

I’ve been wanting to try out reusable baby food pouches for a while, since we go through the ones we buy so quickly, and they are like $1 each, at best. I like making our own homemade baby foods and I used to make all of Baby H’s purees and avoided buying a lot of jarred food, so why not make my own pouches too? I received these lovely pouches in exchange for my honest review.

Food Pouches

Great easy to follow directions right on the box. 1. Unbox. 2. Blow to open. 3. Rinse out. 4. Fill with food. 5. Eat.

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy these pouches are to use. There isn’t too much of a learning curve, though I wasn’t able to get the pouch to stand up on the lid as it says, and instead held it open with one hand and poured with the other. The zipper is easy to operate and stays shut very well, and the pouch itself is pretty large and holds a good amount.

I made one pitcher of pureed fruits and veggies and the whole pitcher fit 5 out of the 6 pouches. This is a hit for us since Baby H is a fan of those pouches, and he is getting pretty good at operating them on his own.

Here is the recipe for the homemade baby food puree I made:

Ingredients: apple, banana, avocado.

Basically, I used what I had on hand.

Directions: I steamed the apple to make it nice and soft, then I mixed the 3 ingredients in a blender until it was all evenly whipped.

Then just pour into the pouches.

The finished product:

What are some of your favorite baby food purees?

Product Details:

– EASY TO USE and CLEAN: Pouches are dishwasher safe, and our one-way flow design allows water to flow in one direction, preventing food from getting trapped in corners. Our top spout prevents babies and toddlers from having to hold it sideways and eat out of the side spout.
-EXTRA STRENGTH ZIPPER: Pouches won’t open on you during use or in your bag. Extremely Baby Proof.
-EASY TO FILL: Large cap allows for it to stand upright, while you fill with a spoon, funnel, or pitcher.
-HOLDS 6oz: Great for school or work lunches. Take one along for a snack after your workout, athletic/sporting events. Or take it to the beach, or on a hike.
-ECO-FRIENDLY: Pouches are recyclable.
-FREEZER SAFE: Allows for making large batches of pureed food and storing for later use. Write the date and content on the bag for long term storage and tracking for freshness.
-EAT HEALTHIER: Pouches make eating healthy foods fun for kids. Runners enjoy the ease of use, for their homemade Energy Gels.

I don’t know if these are a new thing or if they have been around for some time, but I do know they’re a good idea 🙂

Yea the store brand are at least a dollar and the fancypants brands are closer to two, each. So buying some reusable pouches has an upfront cost, but then saves a lot over time. I think the problem I have is when I puree food I make so much at one time (one blender full is a lot) that I need a bunch of these just to freeze for later.
