I’ve been wanting to try out reusable baby food pouches for a while, since we go through the ones we buy so quickly, and they are like $1 each, at best. I like making our own homemade baby foods and I used to make all of Baby H’s purees and avoided buying a lot of jarred food, so why not make my own pouches too? I received these lovely pouches in exchange for my honest review.

Great easy to follow directions right on the box. 1. Unbox. 2. Blow to open. 3. Rinse out. 4. Fill with food. 5. Eat.
How to make your own baby food pouches
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy these pouches are to use. There isn’t too much of a learning curve, though I wasn’t able to get the pouch to stand up on the lid as it says, and instead held it open with one hand and poured with the other. The zipper is easy to operate and stays shut very well, and the pouch itself is pretty large and holds a good amount.
I made one pitcher of pureed fruits and veggies and the whole pitcher fit 5 out of the 6 pouches. This is a hit for us since Baby H is a fan of those pouches, and he is getting pretty good at operating them on his own.
Here is the recipe for the homemade baby food puree I made:
Ingredients: apple, banana, avocado.
Basically, I used what I had on hand.
Directions: I steamed the apple to make it nice and soft, then I mixed the 3 ingredients in a blender until it was all evenly whipped.
Then just pour into the pouches.
The finished product:

I don’t know if these are a new thing or if they have been around for some time, but I do know they’re a good idea 🙂

Ooh! I need to check these out! My toddler loves applesauce pouches but they get expensive!

Yea the store brand are at least a dollar and the fancypants brands are closer to two, each. So buying some reusable pouches has an upfront cost, but then saves a lot over time. I think the problem I have is when I puree food I make so much at one time (one blender full is a lot) that I need a bunch of these just to freeze for later.
