Learn how Investing is for Everyone with Stash

This post is brought to you by Stash. The content and opinions expressed below are mine.

We try to discuss finances and our plans in my family, but often we are stuck with the road block of paying down debt and not really having a good foundation to start investing. We all know the saying “it takes money to make money”. But does that have to be true?

If we look back over time, the market has been a great way to make money. From 1900 to the year 2000, the market grew an average of 10.4% per year*.

But most people who take advantage of the benefits of investing already have enough money to meet high minimums, to hire financial advisers, and to buy many different stocks and funds, which can each cost hundreds of dollars.

But many of us don’t have that kind of money, and don’t invest – so we’re missing the boat. Now there’s a new company called Stash that’s aiming to change all of that. Stash is on a mission to break down the traditional barriers – knowledge, cost and investment minimums – and democratize investing. Stash aims to make it easy, fun and affordable for people of all ages and from all backgrounds to start investing in their future and building good financial habits.

Here’s what Stash is doing to make it possible for everyone to invest:

  1. Minimums. You can start investing on Stash with only $5.
  2. Guidance. Stash helps you choose what to invest in – starting with about 30 professionally managed investments tied to your goals, interests and beliefs.
  3. Prices. With Stash, you can buy a fractional share. So if an investment costs $100 a share, you can buy part of a share for $5 or $10.

Stash has made it easy to get started and choose an investment portfolio that matters to us. If we can choose an investment that offers the potential for a financial return, and lets us feel good about supporting companies doing the right thing, it’s a win win.

With low minimums, guidance, and low prices, anyone can invest. That’s the way it should be. Which is exactly why Stash was created.

Do you invest? If so, how do you invest?

  1. I know nothing about investing. I know that my IRA is tied in to investments and that’s about as far as my knowledge goes. I’ve always wanted to get involved, and this really seems like a great way to get started! I’m definitely going to check this out. I love that you can start with as little as $5!

    • I’m exactly the same way. I have a retirement account through my job, and that is all I know about investing. I’d certainly like to learn more about it and this sounds like a good opportunity.
