3 Easy Ways to Keep Your New Years Resolutions to be Healthier in 2019

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe and join the tribe. Thanks for visiting!

This post was sponsored by Splenda as part of an Influencer Activation, and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

Is your New Year’s Resolution to be Healthier this year?

I know mine is. Hubby had gotten into biking last year, and we’ve been teaching our preschooler how to ride a bike too. For the holidays, I got a bike of my own. And yes, my new bike is purple. But there were no purple helmets.

So my “how” to keep my new year’s resolution is to go bike riding, at least on the weekends. Maybe once the days get long again, we can even squeeze in an after work ride. A lovely family bike ride is a great way to spend time together outdoors and work on our new year’s resolutions at the same time.

Here are some other easy ways to work on our healthier goals.

Make Healthy Swaps

Living in Texas, and spending a lot of time with hubby’s family in other areas of the South, well, I have developed a taste for some Southern Iced Tea. Also known as Sweet Tea and not to be confused with restaurant iced tea (which is often unsweet here in Texas). While it tastes fantastic, I admit that the amount of sugar it has me consume isn’t the best choice. So I’m making my own with a swap of using Splenda Naturals!

Splenda Naturals Stevia is a great tasting 100% natural stevia product with zero calories, nothing artificial, and no aftertaste.

Splenda-Naturals Southern Sweet Tea

Here’s how to make Southern Iced Tea with Splenda Naturals:

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Heatproof pitcher
  • 4 tea bags (black tea flavor of your choice)
  • 4 packets SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice for flavoring

Add boiling water and tea bags to pitcher. Cover and steep for 10 minutes. Remove tea bags and squeeze into brew before discarding. Stir in SPLENDA® Sweetener and cold water. Add lemon juice. Serve over ice.

Looking for a healthier adult beverage swap? Try some Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold. It is brewed with organic grains and is free of artificial colors and flavors. Just 2.5g carbs and 85 calories, Pure Gold definitely makes a great option for a light, casual drink. Please remember to enjoy responsibly.

Both swaps are great beverage options with dinner or a weekend meal as a way to kick back and enjoy your healthier year.

Snack Responsibly

I have gotten to try out an assortment of Optimum Nutrition products. My favorite is the Protein Crisp!

Optimum Nutrition Protein Crisp, Amino Energy, Gold Standard Whey

Protein Crisp is a high protein bar (20g protein in each bar) with a delicious crispy texture. The Salted Toffee Pretzel is yummy.

There are also great options you can mix right into your morning smoothie or mid-day water beverage.

The Amino Energy is a powder with refreshing fruit flavors – mix into cold water and enjoy! It contains caffeine from natural sources for support with energy and focus, with only 5 calories and 0 grams of sugar per serving.

Try the Gold Standard Whey for a protein boost. With only 120 calories and less than 2g of fat or sugar, mix this in your beverage for a filling snack to keep you going and avoid reaching for the candy jar at work (I know it’s not just me!).

I plan to use all of these to help me with my new year’s resolution to keep my energy levels up (which will be needed for going on bike rides) and keep me from grabbing at snacks all day. I have started making a meal replacement smoothie with the Gold Standard Whey and Amino Energy powders, and it is so yummy.

Agreed! Do you cream your coffee or just sweeten it?
