Fall is here, and that means it is time for a wardrobe shift. Working moms, depending on your climate, you may be switching from light-weight summer clothing to your fall wardrobe with thicker and warmer items. If you live in a hot climate where your office insists on blasting the cold air, you might already be in your fall wear, so you don’t freeze. Or is that just me? Our office in Texas was always so cold, so you still had to wear layers, and dress for sweater weather, even if it was sweaty weather outdoors.

Likewise, if you’re a new mom preparing to return to work, you might be searching for ideas for work attire that is comfortable and forgiving to your body’s needs (especially if you’re breastfeeding and pumping).

Here are some easy (as well as affordable) wardrobe staples for your busy working mom closet, especially for new moms adjusting to body changes and a need for new clothes.

Wardrobe Staples for Working Moms that are Kind to your New Body

Ladies, we go through a lot of changes when we become a mom. Our emotions go through the wringer, and so do our bodies. Having created a tiny human, we emerge a completely new person who deserves an updated wardrobe for returning to work.

Wear Forgiving and Breathable Fabrics

You already know I am a huge fan of flowy, forgiving tops and switched to those when I became a new mom. I love the feel of cotton camis and a cardigan look because they give room to our new curves. Bonus points, they are easy to shuffle around when pumping.

Cotton is excellent for being breathable and allowing your changing body to cool off when needed. I probably don’t need to tell you about all the changes in hormones that can affect your body’s temperature.

Alternate Skirts and Pants

Sometimes I like to live in pants. Mostly this is for the pockets, but unless I find amazing elastic waistband pants, by the end of the day, it sometimes feels too restricting and tight on the mommy tummy and hips area.

So, I switch to skirts occasionally, allowing for more coverage of our mid-section. A-line or flowy skirts are always recommended for a more pear-shaped figure, and many of us experience a widening in our hips and surrounding regions post having a baby.

Skirts are a great way to make a regular outfit more dressy for those formal meetings. Also, I hear many moms say they prefer to wear dresses to work because they don’t have to worry about picking a matching outfit. The dress is already a complete outfit!

A valuable staple to pair with skirts is some excellent hosiery! Did you know that L’eggs® is celebrating its 50th anniversary and has launched a partnership with Dollar General? They’re bringing you high-quality, comfortable hosiery at affordable, low prices. Perfect for stocking up on your fall wardrobe needs.

The L’eggs Sheer Energy® control top hosiery is great for that final put-together feeling, providing that balance of sheerness and support for your legs. Their Day Sheer with smoothing control top panty or Ultra Sheer with reinforced panty are both great for the finishing touches to your wardrobe.

Switch to Flats instead of Heels

Moms, your body is recovering. It needs time to heal and gain strength, and what it does not need right now is high heeled shoes. Switch to flats or low wedges for a while to allow your feet and spine to align properly without the added stress of elevated shoes.  I don’t know about you, but carrying a large baby caused plantar fasciitis issues, so do be kind to your feet as a working mom.

If you do need to wear heels, try to do so only occasionally. Limit high heel wearing for interviews, important meetings, or presentations. But try to avoid them if you will be doing a lot of walking or standing or bring a change of shoes for these situations, especially for commuting.

While you’re at it, don’t forget your L’eggs® foot covers (perfect for flats with skirts or ankle-length pants), L’eggs trouser socks, or L’eggs knee-high day sheer hosiery.

Let L’eggs add extra comfort and confidence to your busy working mom wardrobe.

Here are all the products you can pick from, or get some of each!

  • L’eggs Day Sheer – Sheer nylon leg, control top panty and smoothing spandex to give you confidence. The sheer toe works with any shoe style.
  • L’eggs Ultra Sheer – Exceptionally sheer leg with a hint of color. Also features a reinforced panty and sheer toe.
  • L’eggs Sheer Energy® – These have the control top panty and sheer support for energetic legs, with spandex creating a vibrant, toned feeling.
  • L’eggs Knee High – Has a comfort top band, sheer leg and toe.
  • L’eggs Trouser Socks – Complete with comfort top band, silky leg and sheer toe.
  • L’eggs Foot Covers – These are low profile, so are ideal for any shoe.

The L’eggs Dollar General items also have an Ibotta offer! You can find it on the app too.

So versatile! I hardly ever wear things like this while I’m staying home, but I always love to keep them on had for special occasions when I need something a little more!

Flats are my go-to. I’m too tall for heels and don’t have enough patience to be uncomfortable ?
