Celeb Mom Shares Tips for Juggling Young Kids and Demanding Careers

guestpost

My name is Faven Liuget and I’m so excited to give you an inside look into my day and best tips as a mother of 3 and business owner. I have 2 daughters ages 7 and 5, and a son who is 9 months old. I absolutely adore my kids and am a very hands-on mother. In order to spend as much of the day as possible with my kids, my day starts around 4:30 am. For all you busy moms out there, here are some of my best tips for how to create fun and meaningful activities with your children as you work through your busy day.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help

My advice to other busy moms is that you can only be the best mom when you are happy! It’s so important to me to make sure that I’m at my best and if I’m feeling uneasy, I ask for help. My family is my backbone and I couldn’t do this without them.

My husband, Corey, plays in the NFL and is so amazing with the kids during the offseason. He does all the activities and school drop-offs—we have an incredible partnership. We don’t have a nanny but my wonderful mom and sister help us with the kids.

I love spending time with my friends and vacationing with my family during my kids’ breaks at school. I need it! We all need it as moms.

Find ways to get your kids excited about meal times

My day starts with a workout from 5-6 am and then I head to the kitchen to start on breakfast. Every night before my kids go to bed, we pick a breakfast menu for the next morning together. It gives my kids something fun to look forward to the next day and I love sharing my passion for cooking with them.

Some of my kids’ favorite meals are French toast, chocolate chip pancakes, homemade waffles with eggs and fruit, oatmeal, and their absolute favorite, mini cake pancakes. As a mom, it’s very important to me to make sure that my kids are eating well and organic. I almost never cook with sugar and fun fact: my kids don’t use syrup. Who would have thought??

Find time to work on and achieve your own goals to be a role model for your kids

Once we finish breakfast, we’re out of the house and off to school by 7:10 am. Then I’m finally able to find some time to get my work done. When my kids are at school, I’m on the phone for almost the entire day. I own multiple businesses including a clothing line, a trucking business, clubs, and my newest project: a podcast with my good friend and former castmate.

Juggling all my businesses with young kids isn’t always easy, but I’m grateful that I can find time during the day to work. I want to be a role model for my kids and show them that with a strong work ethic and drive, they can find success with whatever they choose to do with their lives. My daughters currently have after-school activities like tennis and track and it’s been so fun to watch them get into sports, just like their dad.

Use dinnertime as a time to connect with your kids and listen to what’s on their minds

Once we’re home from school, I’m back in the kitchen making dinner. Unlike breakfast, dinner is mommy’s choice (I won’t let them choose because I would be making three different meals if it’s up to them lol). On the weekends, we eat at our favorite spots or my husband helps with dinner. We love making homemade pizzas together and I usually make pizza dough once every two weeks.

We eat dinner as a family every night no matter what. It’s one of my favorite times of the day because Corey and I get to spend quality time with our kids and hear about what is going on in their curious little minds. By 7 pm, we’ve finished dinner, bath time, and then it’s time to read. We each read one book, my kids’ favorite is Black is a Rainbow Color. By 7:45 pm, my kids are asleep and now it’s Corey time.

Be kind to yourself as a mom and find time for self-care

I love being a mom. It’s by far the BEST job God has given me. I absolutely love it. At times it’s crazy, but it’s all worth it. And I don’t always get it right. I mess up a lot. I get upset. I at times fall short. But hey, I’m just a mom doing my best to improve and be the best version of myself each and every day.

I’m a work in progress, but we all are! My kids teach me to keep evolving as a person and I couldn’t be more grateful to be a mom. I have so much respect for all of you busy moms out there and thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my beautiful family.
