Blogging is something that you have to work on continually. A blog is never completed, and that’s what’s good about them. There is always room for you to improve it and change what you do to attract more people. If you’re looking to take your blog to the next level, here are the steps you’ll need to take.
Get a Real Domain Name
Start by making sure that your blog has a clear and relevant domain name. The truth is, many blogs don’t. People usually start out with a free platform and a use a free domain name, like the ones associated with WordPress. This makes the website seem generic and rather amateur, though. That’s not the kind of image you want to create for your blog. So, use a domain name generator and find one that’s relevant and can catch people’s attention. It should also say something about the topics covered on your blog.
Create a Logo and Some Iconography
You should also have a good logo that is easy to recognise for anyone who visits the website. The logo will stick in people’s minds and it just makes the site seem more professional. If you think about it, all the top blogs have a particular heading and logo that comes to mind, so yours should too. If you use a basic template and a plain font, then your blog won’t stand out above the rest. Having consistent iconography throughout the website can be very important too. Anything that builds that recognition among visitors should keep them coming back.
Good linking is very important if you want to increase the traffic to your website. Focus on good, strong links, and don’t spam them. Links are taken into account when it comes to search engine ranking. But it’s easy to spot spam links, so that won’t get you anywhere. Instead, they need to be as natural and organic as possible. They should also be links to sites that are known to be reliable and trustworthy. Links to dodgy sites with no visitors won’t help you at all. On top of that, you should add internal links. This increases page views by prompting people to read other stuff you’ve written in the past.
Bring Other People Onboard
If you are the sole creator of content on your website, this could work against you in the future. That’s because things won’t be mixed up enough. People like to read different kinds of posts. Although yours can still make up the core of the blog, it can benefit from some fresh voices now and again. You could open the blog up to submissions from other people who are interested in writing for your blog. Or you could approach other bloggers and ask them to write a guest post for your blog. You can do the same in return for them and their blog. This is good because it will also expose you to another audience that might then start reading your blog too.
How do you take your blog to the next level?
