Never Lose Hope with Unexplained Infertility

Never Lose Hope with Unexplained Infertility

People visit a fertility clinic for answers as to why they can’t get pregnant or carry a pregnancy to term. While up to 80% of these people, after initial testing, will receive a diagnosis and treatment plan, approximately 20% will be diagnosed with unexplained infertility. This can be incredibly frustrating, but isn’t a reason to give up, it usually just means you have to look further for the answer. Unexplained Infertility Challenges the Fertility Clinic to Look Further for the Answer Approximately 80-90% of people visiting a fertility clinic because they are unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy […]

Practice Postpartum Self Care with Cardinal Health

Practice Postpartum Self Care with Cardinal Health

Note: Cardinal Health sent me this product to try and donated to a charity of my choice. Giving birth does a number on our bodies and recovery introduces new surprises for first-time moms. I knew about and was prepared for the extended postpartum bleeding, but what I wasn’t expecting was all the perineal pain and discomfort. Like millions of other new moms, I experienced a postpartum period that lasted more than six weeks, but thankfully the worst of it was only maybe the first three weeks. That early time was also when I was healing from a perineal tear so it felt […]

10 Fears I Had Before Having a Baby

10 Fears I Had Before Having a Baby

Today is Face Your Fears Day so we are talking all about things that scare us, or have scared us in the past. I thought I would talk about my fears about having children, since it was something I was scared about for so long (before I finally agreed to try it on for size). 10 Fears I Had Before Having a Baby I was scared about pregnancy in general. Would my body be able to handle all those changes? Was I healthy enough? As it turned out, yes, my body did just fine for the most part. Gestational Diabetes was the […]

Rent Your Maternity Clothing with Bella Gravida

Rent Your Maternity Clothing with Bella Gravida

I participated in a Blog Blast Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Bella Gravida. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation. Pregnancy changes our bodies in so many ways, not just physically with the rounding of our bellies, but also our self-image changes and our comfort levels with clothing items change too. I remember trying to have my regular clothes last longer by using belly bands and wearing camisoles under unbuttoned shirts. That worked at first, but quickly got to be a problem. So I started buying bigger items and eventually bought full-fledged maternity clothing. It […]

10 Reasons I Love (and Hate) My New Mom Body

10 Reasons I Love (and Hate) My New Mom Body

Pregnancy and childbirth definitely take their toll on our bodies.  We new Moms definitely have some mixed feelings about our new Mom bodies. I thought I would share mine. Things I hate about my new Mom body: My jiggly middle section is… jiggly. My clothes don’t fit right. But, the stretch marks are a badge of honor to remind me what my body can do. I mean, it’s not as if I’m wearing bikinis ever anyway. The fatigue, the constant never-ending fatigue! The dark circles under my eyes. Ugh. Super dry skin, and, well everything else. My plantar fasciitis has returned. Poor […]

Hospital packing list

Hospital packing list

I thought it would be a good idea to reflect on my hospital packing list for my delivery. I read a lot of articles on what to pack in your labor and delivery suitcase and many of them were repetitive, and some had some great ideas that I haven’t thought of. So here is what I packed, and my discussion on whether I used the items or not. My Labor and Delivery Hospital Packing List For Me – General: Sweat pants Several tank tops/t-shirts Robe Maternity Jeans Sports bras/nursing bras Underwear Pads Warm socks Slippers Toiletries – for showering, teeth […]

My birth story

My birth story

So here it is, the obligatory birth experience post. I was induced at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes, and I’m writing this on my 40th week. Happy due date. I was told to report to Labor and Delivery on Sunday evening (Nov 2) at 5pm to start the inducing process. I had to change into a hospital gown (boo, didn’t even get to sleep in my own clothes before labor truly kicked off) and get the IV started. Let me tell you, the IV hurt so much! I had no idea. This is one of those things no one […]

My body is amazing.

My body is amazing.

As my pregnancy is drawing to a close, I wanted to reflect upon the amazing journey my body has been going through. Ladies, this body that we have – it is amazing! It can do amazing things that I didn’t appreciate until now. Being the typical girl, I’ve always had body issues and was never satisfied with the way I looked. It wasn’t until I agreed (finally, after many years of people wondering if I ever would) to try out this whole baby thing, that I realized how amazing my body really is. I’ve watched my body change and grow […]
